Choose trust, closeness and commitment · S14.4

Look for evidence that a relational change is possible

You want to assess hope without ignoring a repeated problem.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Describe the problem and the change that would matter.
  2. Identify any actual behavior supporting the possibility of change, along with evidence that limits it.
  3. Choose a realistic request, trial, boundary, or decision to step back.

An example

A person has followed through on two recent arrangements; I can try one further plan while keeping my limits.

Reflect

Is your expectation grounded in behavior rather than a wish?
