Name a feeling or a current need · S9.13

Describe mixed feelings without forcing a choice

You have more than one feeling about the same person or event.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Write two feelings separately and the specific aspect each relates to.
  2. Use 'and' to describe them together without declaring one the real feeling.
  3. Decide whether you need an action now or whether naming the mix is enough.

An example

I am pleased you received the opportunity, and I am sad we will see each other less.

Reflect

Does the two-part description fit better than a single label?

Next time

Explain the distinction to someone only if you want them to understand it.
