Find the first step · S2.4

Use something that already works

You want to begin a task using a method that has helped you before.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Recall one similar task you managed, even partly.
  2. Name one thing that made starting easier: a reminder, a person, a tool, or a smaller first step.
  3. Use that support for the current task and see whether it fits.

An example

“Writing the first sentence with a friend nearby helped last time. I will ask if we can work quietly together.”

Reflect

Which part of the old approach fitted this task?

Next time

Keep the useful part and change anything that did not fit.
