Find the first step · S2.1

Break a task into smaller steps

A task feels too large or you don't know where to begin.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Name one task and what finished would look like.
  2. Write up to three actions in order, starting each with a verb.
  3. Make the first action small enough to start now. Try that action before planning more.

An example

“Prepare the appointment form” becomes “Find the form → gather the requested details → fill in the first section.”

Reflect

Was the first action small enough? If not, how could you divide it?

Next time

After the first action, choose the next manageable step.
