Say no and define a boundary · S8.1

Practice saying a boundary

You want to rehearse a limit for an ordinary, low-stakes request.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Write what you can offer and what you cannot offer.
  2. Turn it into one or two sentences. Add an alternative only if you want to offer one.
  3. Read it aloud or practice with someone you trust. Change wording that does not sound like you.

An example

“I can't take that on today. I can spend ten minutes looking at it tomorrow.”

Reflect

Does the wording state your limit clearly without offering more than you intend?

Next time

Keep the sentence as a practice draft and adapt it to the situation.
