Make room for an activity or break · D10.16

Plan an outdoor break that fits your day

You would like some time outside and want to make the plan practical.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Choose an accessible place you would like to visit, such as a doorway, courtyard, nearby bench, or park. Consider the conditions and access you need.
  2. Pick a short opportunity in your day and decide what you would need to take or arrange. Staying indoors is an option if going out does not fit.
  3. During the break, choose one thing to notice, such as a sound, color, or view. Return when you are ready; you do not have to walk or feel calmer.

An example

“If the courtyard is comfortable at lunch, I’ll sit there briefly and look at the trees. Otherwise I’ll stay inside.”

Reflect

What made the break accessible or difficult, and would you choose it again?

Next time

Adjust the place, timing, company, or length to suit the next opportunity.
