Build a cue and a small routine · S3.10
Notice the moment a routine begins
A routine happens with little attention, and you want to observe its starting point.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Choose one ordinary routine and identify the first action you can notice.
- On one occasion, pause briefly at that point and name what you are about to do.
- Decide whether to carry on, change a detail, or stop. You do not need to monitor every step.
An example
I’m opening the calendar. I’ll check today’s first commitment before adding another task.
Reflect
Did noticing the start offer a choice, or was it unnecessary effort?
Next time
Use the pause only where it is helpful.
