Understand a barrier or low-energy day · S6.18

Use a helpful voice when motivation is low

You are trying to push yourself with insults or threats.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Write what you are trying to do and what makes it difficult.
  2. Ask what an informed, respectful helper would suggest given those barriers.
  3. Choose one suggestion you are willing to try, including asking for help, changing the task, or resting.

An example

Instead of 'Stop being lazy,' try 'The instructions are unclear; start by asking which section matters most.'

Reflect

Did the new wording lead to a more workable choice?

Next time

Keep the useful suggestion rather than repeating a phrase you do not believe.
