Explore your reasons for a task
You feel unsure about doing a task and want to understand the hesitation before making a plan.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Write one reason for doing the task and one reason for not doing it or delaying it.
- Separate your own reasons from expectations placed on you. Note any real consequences or responsibilities.
- Choose a next step: do a smaller part, seek information, negotiate the requirement, schedule it, or decide not to proceed where that choice is yours.
An example
The form matters for my application, but I’m unsure about one question. I’ll ask about that before trying to finish.
Reflect
Which reason matters most to you, and what information is missing?
Next time
Revisit the decision when circumstances change; uncertainty need not be converted into motivation.
