Understand a barrier or low-energy day · S6.19

Reduce one demand in a pressured moment

Stress is building and your response is to demand even more of yourself.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. List the demands competing for attention right now, keeping the list brief.
  2. Choose one demand to postpone, simplify, delegate, or clarify.
  3. Take or communicate that action in plain language: 'I can do this after the urgent item is finished.'

An example

I have three messages and a report to finish. I will tell one person when I can respond.

Reflect

Which demand was actually changeable?

Next time

If none were changeable, identify the practical support you would want rather than blaming yourself for remaining stressed.
