Prepare or review a boundary conversation · S8.20
Rehearse a boundary with a chosen partner
You want to try wording in a practice setting before using it.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Choose a trusted person who agrees to practice, and tell them what kind of feedback you want.
- Say a short script: what you can do, what you cannot do, and any next step you choose. Use an ordinary low-stakes example.
- Ask what they understood, then revise wording that felt unclear or unlike you. Stop the rehearsal when you choose.
An example
I can review one page, but I cannot edit the whole document. Would you tell me what limit you heard?
Reflect
Did rehearsal clarify the words without making you feel pushed into the real conversation?
Next time
You decide whether to use the script, change it, or seek other support.
