Choose movement, stillness or a familiar rhythm · S12.5

Make a movement break optional and accessible

A shared activity includes a movement break.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Check whether participation, adaptation, or remaining still are all welcome.
  2. Choose an ordinary comfortable movement you already know suits you, or a nonmovement break.
  3. Return or stop when you choose without reporting a required emotional benefit.

An example

I stay seated and change my hand position while others stand.

Reflect

Did the format allow you to participate on your terms?

Next time

Request an accessible option when a group routine assumes everyone can do the same movement.
