Prepare or review a boundary conversation · S8.16
Debrief a limit-setting attempt
You want a brief review after trying to communicate a boundary.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Note the message you intended, what you said, and the response you observed.
- Identify what was clear and what was difficult without grading yourself or requiring improvement.
- Choose one thing to keep or change next time, or decide no further action is needed.
An example
The limit was clear; the repeated explanations made the discussion longer. I may use one sentence next time.
Reflect
What belongs to your communication, and what belongs to the other person’s choices?
Next time
A short note or conversation is enough; no fixed weekly tracking is required.
