Compare options and competing needs · S5.5
Compare solutions by what they protect
You have more than one possible solution and want to consider values as well as convenience.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Name the practical problem and two possible solutions.
- For each, note which values or needs it supports and which it may cost.
- Choose a next step or information to gather, accepting that no option may satisfy everything.
An example
A faster decision saves time; a short consultation gives affected people a voice. I can check the actual deadline.
Reflect
Which tradeoff was most important, and what was uncertain?
Next time
Revisit if the facts or priorities change.
