Describe yourself with room to change · D8.6

Write a fuller account of yourself

One belief has become the whole story you tell about a difficult experience.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Describe the event in a few factual sentences, including circumstances outside your control.
  2. Add details the short story leaves out: choices, effort, help, impact, or unresolved difficulty.
  3. Write a fuller account that you can believe, without forcing an uplifting ending.

An example

The project did not finish. I asked for help and completed one section; the scope and time still did not match.

Reflect

What feels more accurate, and what is missing?

Next time

Keep revising the account rather than repeating it as an affirmation.
