Practise and check a useful ability · D9.20

Test whether a practice helps the task you care about

You are considering a brain-training activity or organizational exercise.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Name the real-world task you want to improve.
  2. Choose a practical support or practice and a way to observe performance on that actual task.
  3. Compare the result over suitable attempts without assuming a game score transfers to all thinking abilities.

An example

I want fewer missed steps in a form, so I test a checklist on the form itself.

Reflect

Did the practice help the target task or only the practice activity?

Next time

Keep useful supports and question broader claims separately.
