Tell a fuller account of an experience · S8.17
Tell the boundary story with more context
A boundary conversation has become a broad story about who you are.
Everyday practice
Try these steps
- Write the broad story in one sentence.
- Add the actual request, your circumstances, your limit, and the other person’s response as separate facts.
- Write a fuller account that includes the difficulty without turning it into proof of your worth or a required growth story.
An example
I declined because I had another commitment. They were disappointed; that does not describe every part of our relationship.
Reflect
What does the fuller account clarify, and what still hurts or feels uncertain?
Next time
Use the account to decide what support or action you want.
