Choose priorities and plan time · D10.3

Make a realistic plan for your time

You have several things to do and want to see what can fit into the time available.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Write down the commitments that already have a set time, including travel or preparation.
  2. Choose one remaining task. Estimate how long it might take and find a space for it, leaving room for a break or delay.
  3. Write what can wait or be renegotiated if the task takes longer. Stop planning once you have a workable next block.

An example

“The appointment ends at 2. I’ll allow time to get home, then work on the form from 3 to 3:20. The filing can wait.”

Reflect

Where did the plan fit your day, and where did the estimate need changing?

Next time

After trying one time block, adjust the next estimate using what actually happened.
