Choose or review a commitment · S3.5

Connect a routine to your own values

You want to decide whether a routine serves something that matters to you.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Name one value and describe what it means in your everyday life.
  2. Choose a repeatable action that expresses it, and identify any cost in time, money, energy, or other commitments.
  3. Write a small version you would choose for yourself, or decide the proposed habit does not fit your value right now.

An example

Connection matters to me. A short check-in with my sibling may fit better than a daily message I feel obliged to send.

Reflect

Did the routine express your value or become a rule you felt judged by?

Next time

Keep room to change the action while retaining the value.
