State needs and agree on helpful support · S12.20

Agree on a helpful prompt from a support person

You would like someone to remind you of a practical option during a difficult task.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Choose the specific reminder you want and when it would be welcome.
  2. Ask whether the person is willing and agree that you can decline the prompt.
  3. Review whether it helped without letting them diagnose your state or enforce a routine.

An example

If I lose track, please ask whether I want the instructions repeated.

Reflect

Did the prompt support your choice rather than take control?

Next time

Change or withdraw the agreement when needed.
