Offer support while keeping limits · D5.11

Choose support after a relationship setback

A disappointing interaction has affected you, and you want to decide what you need next.

Everyday practice

Try these steps

  1. Name what happened and what feels difficult, without requiring yourself to see a lesson.
  2. Identify one immediate need, such as time, company, rest, practical help, or space from the interaction.
  3. Choose a step that meets that need within your current options, or write a request for support.

An example

The conversation hurt. I want to talk with someone else before deciding whether to respond.

Reflect

Did the step fit your need, and what remains unresolved?

Next time

There is no required speed for recovering or returning to the relationship.
